Pakistan Post International Rates: EMS Tariffs & Zone Guide
The cost of sending letters, documents and parcels abroad with Pakistan Post depends on the country, the weight and the service you choose. This guide explains how prices are worked out. We do not publish price lists, because they change and we could not confirm current figures.
Pakistan Post sets its overseas prices and changes them from time to time. Before you book, check that your destination country is accepted and have your item weighed at a General Post Office (GPO) counter.
How Overseas Postage Prices Are Worked Out
Overseas postage is not one flat price. It usually depends on three things:
Countries are usually grouped into zones. Faraway countries generally cost more to reach.
Prices go up with weight. There is usually a starting price for the first weight step, and then extra for each further step.
You can choose between different services, such as airmail, registered small packets, air or surface parcels, and Express Mail Service (EMS). Each has its own prices.
Understanding International Geographical Zones
Countries are usually grouped into zones by distance. We could not confirm Pakistan Post’s exact zones, but they generally look like this:
Nearby Countries and the Middle East
Countries in South Asia and the Gulf are closer, so they are often in the cheaper zones.
Europe, the United Kingdom and Central Asia
Europe and the UK are further away, so they usually cost more than nearby countries.
North America, Australia and Other Faraway Places
Long routes, such as to the United States, Canada or Australia, usually cost the most.
Customs Forms You Must Fill In (CN22 and CN23)
Anything you send abroad that contains goods, gifts or samples needs a customs form. You can get these at the GPO counter:
For light items, under 2 kg or worth under 300 SDR. It is a small sticker where you write what is inside, its weight and its value.
For parcels over 2 kg. It is a fuller form that goes in a clear plastic pouch stuck to the parcel. Some goods may also need an invoice or other papers.
Wrong or missing customs details can mean your parcel is held, charged extra duty or sent back to Pakistan.
Countries Served and What You Cannot Send
Before you send something abroad, keep these points in mind:
- Countries served: Pakistan Post sends parcels to Universal Postal Union (UPU) member countries. Services to some countries can stop for a while, for example because of conflict or transport problems. Ask at the GPO.
- Items not allowed: Dangerous goods, liquids that can catch fire, loose batteries, cash and food that can go off are usually not allowed. Ask at the counter for the full list.
- Weight limits: Weight limits depend on the country you are sending to. Ask at the counter for the limit for your destination.
How to Get the Exact Price at the GPO
To make sure your parcel is priced correctly and sent without delay, follow these steps:
- Pack your items well in a strong box before it is weighed.
- Fill in the CN22 or CN23 customs form clearly in English.
- Go to the Foreign Post counter at your nearest General Post Office (GPO).
- Have the parcel weighed at the counter to find its price.
- Check your booking receipt: the country, the tracking barcode and the amount paid.
