General Postal Tracking Questions

Finding your number and reading your tracking.

How do I track a Pakistan Post shipment?

Type the barcode number from your receipt into the Pakistan Post tracking site or a tracker like ours. Tracking only works for mail that gets a barcode, such as Urgent Mail Service (UMS), Express Mail Service (EMS) and registered post.

Where do I find my postal tracking number?

It is printed on the receipt the post office gives you when you pay for postage. For UMS, it is the number under the barcode. EMS and other international items use the 13-character international format: two letters, nine digits and a two-letter country code. Ordinary letters get no receipt and no tracking number.

What does my tracking status mean?

Each status is a scan at a post office or sorting centre. Common ones are “Item Booked” (accepted at the counter), “Dispatched to Destination” (on its way between sorting centres), “Received at Delivery Office” (at your local post office) and “Delivered” (handed over and signed for).

Why has my tracking not changed for days?

Pakistan Post scans items at main sorting centres, district mail offices and delivery post offices. Items travelling between cities, or passing through small village post offices, may not be scanned on the way. A pause usually means the item is travelling, not that it is lost. Give it the normal delivery time before you complain.

UMS, registered parcels and postcodes

Fast delivery inside Pakistan, registered parcels and postcodes.

Can I track UMS parcels?

Yes. UMS is Pakistan Post’s fast service inside Pakistan, and it is fully tracked. Each item gets a barcode that is scanned at booking, while sorting and when the postman delivers it. Normal UMS and UMS cash on delivery (COD) items can both be tracked.

What is the difference between a registered parcel and UMS?

A registered parcel is signed for at each step, which makes it good for valuable items or legal papers. UMS is faster between cities. Both have a tracking barcode, but UMS usually arrives sooner than a registered parcel.

How does cash on delivery (COD) tracking work?

UMS COD items are tracked with a barcode, just like normal UMS. When the receiver pays the postman, the item is marked delivered. The money is then sent to the seller, by money order or another way agreed with Pakistan Post.

Can I track a parcel with a postcode?

No. A Pakistan postcode has five digits and shows which post office delivers to an area, for example 44000 for Islamabad GPO. It helps sort mail but cannot track one item. To track, use the barcode number on your receipt.

International mail and EMS

Parcels to and from other countries, EMS numbers and customs.

How does international postal tracking work?

Post offices around the world share tracking data. The sending country scans the item when it leaves. When it reaches Pakistan, Pakistan Post and Pakistan Customs take over, scan it on arrival, check it and send it on for delivery.

What does an EMS tracking number look like?

EMS numbers have 13 characters and start with the letter E, for example EE123456789PK for a parcel sent from Pakistan. EMS items coming from abroad also start with E and end with the two-letter code of the sending country, such as GB for the United Kingdom or US for the United States.

Why are international parcels held for customs?

Parcels coming into Pakistan from abroad are checked by Pakistan Customs. A parcel that needs duty paid, an invoice checked or an import permit stays with customs until it is cleared. Pakistan Post can only deliver it after that.

Help and complaints

Official contacts, what to have ready and how to complain.

When should I contact Pakistan Post?

Contact Pakistan Post if your item is much later than normal, if tracking shows a problem such as damage or a wrong address, or if it says delivered but you never got it. For normal delays, give it a little more time first.

What do I need to make a complaint?

Have your booking receipt, the tracking number, the sender’s and receiver’s names and full addresses, the post office where it was booked and the booking date. You can email customercare@pakpost.gov.pk or go to the complaint cell at a GPO.

Can this website fix a delay or contact my postman?

No. As an independent website, pakposttracking.pk only gives information and guides. We do not sort mail, direct postmen or change delivery plans. For help with your parcel, always contact Pakistan Post directly.
