Pakistan Post Delivery Time: How Many Days Does It Take?

A simple guide to how long each Pakistan Post service takes, covering UMS, EMS, parcels and international mail, and what can make an item late.

What We Can and Cannot Tell You

Pakistan Post gives delivery times for UMS: overnight between big business cities on the main air and rail routes, and 48 to 72 hours between districts and to smaller places. For EMS, registered parcels and other international mail, we have not found official times we could check. Other sites list exact hours for every service, but we could not trace those numbers to any official source. So below we show only the UMS times, how the services compare, and what makes an item faster or slower.

Which Services Are Faster

Pakistan Post has several kinds of mail, each for a different level of urgency. Here is how they compare:

Urgent Mail Service (UMS)

Pakistan Post’s fast service inside Pakistan. It aims for overnight delivery between big business cities on the main air and rail routes, and 48 to 72 hours between districts and to smaller places. It takes parcels up to 30 kg.

EMS and EMS Plus

Pakistan Post’s express service for documents and parcels going to other countries. EMS Plus is a faster option within it.

Registered Post & Parcels

Sent by the Railway Mail Service (RMS) and post office transport between GPOs. This is the normal, slower service, not an express one, so it takes longer by design.

International EMS & Airmail

The time depends a lot on customs and the postal service in the other country. Pakistan Post does not control these, so international times vary more than times inside Pakistan.

What Affects How Fast Your Item Arrives

Distance and route: An item between two big cities usually moves faster than one going to a small district town, because transport between big cities runs more often.

Counter Booking Cutoff Time: Items handed in after a post office’s daily cut-off wait for the next dispatch. Each office sets its own cut-off, so ask the counter staff if it matters to you.

Weekend & Gazetted Holidays: Postmen do not deliver on Sundays or public holidays. Mail keeps moving by the Railway Mail Service, but an item that reaches your post office on a Saturday afternoon will usually be delivered on Monday.

Postal Code Accuracy: A correct five-digit postcode lets the item be sorted quickly. A missing or wrong postcode means it has to be sorted by hand, which adds delay.
