Pakistan Post Out for Delivery: What It Means and What If You Miss the Postman
Your Pakistan Post item is with the postman. Here is what to expect, and how to get your item if nobody was home.
What “Out for Delivery” Means
The item has reached the post office that delivers to your address, and it has been given to the postman who covers your area. The postman will try to deliver it on that working day's round. For registered mail and UMS, someone at the address will need to sign for it.
Postmen do not deliver on Sundays or on public holidays. If the status appears late on a Saturday, the item will normally be delivered on the next working day.
Missed the Postman? The Intimation Slip
If nobody was home, the place was closed, or money was due (such as customs duty or a cash on delivery amount), the postman usually leaves a paper notice called an intimation slip. It tells you which post office is holding your item.
Take the slip, your original CNIC and your tracking number to that post office. The counter staff will find the item and hand it over after checking your ID. GPO counters are usually open Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a break for Friday prayers from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
Items Usually Collected at the Counter
Heavy parcels, valuable insured items and items with customs duty are often kept at the post office instead of being carried on the postman's round. In that case the postman brings the slip, and you collect the item yourself. Pakistan Post's official FAQ also describes counter (window) delivery, which is free in areas without post boxes if you ask for it in writing.
If Delivery Keeps Failing
An item that is not collected, or that cannot be delivered because the address is wrong, is eventually sent back to the sender.
