Pakistan Post Returned to Sender: Why It Happens and What to Do
Tracking shows your item is going back to the sender. This guide explains why, and what the receiver and the sender can each do about it.
Why Pakistan Post Returns an Item
- The address was wrong or not complete, so the postman could not deliver it.
- The receiver refused the item.
- Nobody collected the item from the post office after an intimation slip was left.
The item then goes back to the post office where it was booked, and from there to the sender. The sender may have to pay return postage.
The Returned Letter Office
Pakistan Post's official FAQ says that an article with an incomplete or wrong address is kept at the Returned Letter Office for seven days before it is sent back to the sender. So there is a short window to sort out the problem.
If You Are the Receiver
As soon as you see a failed delivery or a return, call Pakistan Post on 111-111-117 (051-111-111-117 from a mobile) with the tracking number. If you received an intimation slip, go to the post office named on it with your CNIC. You can also email customercare@pakpost.gov.pk.
If You Are the Sender
Keep your booking receipt. When the item comes back, check the address, correct it and book it again. It will get a new tracking number. If you think the item was returned by mistake, raise it with your booking post office or through the Pakistan Post complaint process.
